More a query than a recipe!

Can anyone tell me if baking powder and baking soda are the same thing? Want to make waffles but I've only got baking powder. (Using coconut flour )

No, I do believe that baking soda is what we know as bicarbonate of soda, so it's not the same as baking powder.

American recipes always say baking soda and I always have to google it to see which they mean.   Now I can come onto Poultry Chat instead  :thumbup:

No, not the same but they do similar jobs.  I'd use one if I hadn't the other

I asked a professional cook and she said you can tell as one is used when ingredients are wet and the other when the ingredients are dry.   Works brilliantly if I could remember which way round they were  :rolleyes:
