Cholesterol in Eggs
#1
Hi

I was recently talking to a friend here in Spain who has some chickens and she asked me if I had a cockerel. I said I hadn’t as I didn’t want chicks just eggs. Now she said that by having a cockerel fertilise the egg (if that the saying) that the eggs have less cholesterol.

Is this true? Or is she rustling my feathers?

Would love to know if this is true or not. Having said that we don’t eat eggs as much as the Spanish, they eat at least 2 a day.

My girls are still knocking them out at a rate of 16 days straight and one day off, then 16 days again.

Cant see how a cockerel fertilising the eggs effects the cholesterol level. <img src='http://poultrychat.com/oldforumIcons/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I can't see it making much difference. If you eat them it won't harm your Cholesterol level.More info can be found here with refence to the spanish eating two a day.

Hens eating grass are supposed to have lower cholesterol content in their eggs. I have always had high cholesterol but found it improved when I ate more eggs <img src='http://poultrychat.com/oldforumIcons/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Statins obviously reduce it but it has stayed steady despite eating probably about 10 eggs a week.
It never worries me when I get a little lost, all I do is change where I'm going
