I've got 5 layers at last!
#1
I started keeping chooks from February last year (have had my ducks though for 5 or 6 years) and wanted to achieve a level of 5 or 6 layers. For one reason or another, that number has gone up and down but I've finally got my 5 layers as from today! My last 22 week old pekin has laid her first egg!! [Image: cheer.gif] Clever girl. It was a witch egg but perfectly formed.

Woohoo!!! That's great news!! Definitely something I'm aspiring too, but then, I'd be happy with one egg from my girls at the moment. I think we might be getting close though, one of my little Dotties squatted down when I went to pop her back in her house today so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

I'm sure it won't take too long for the eggs to get a bit bigger. Well done you, you must be really chuffed!

It's not a stupid question as it doesn't always occur.

A witch egg is a tiny egg which is completely covered in shell in the normal way but does not always contain a yolk. I can't bring myself to open it just yet to see if there is one. [Image: smile.gif]
