The life cycle of red mite.
#1
The Life Cycle of a Red Mite

  • A blood feed takes 1 to 2 hours.

  • After feeding a female red mite crawls into a crack or crevice to mate and lay eggs.

  • During mild weather, eggs hatch and the larvae emerge in 2 or 3 days.

  • 24 hours later, larvae change into 8 legged protonymphs.

  • The protonymphs change into deutonymphs 24 to 36 hours later.

  • They start to feed and become adult red mites.

  • The females start to lay eggs again and the cycle is repeated.

  • The complete cycle takes about 7 days to complete.

  • RED MITE CAN LIVE UPTO 8 MONTHS WITHOUT FEEDING

You've only got one life - live it!

7 days!  Wow, no wonder they are so prolific.  That's very helpful Squiz.
If they can be taught to hate, they can be taught to love.

               Has anybody,and l assume they have,used

Red Stop. This makes the chicken blood unpalatable

to Red Mite. And yes it works very well.

After two days of use l went into a coop with said torch,

and there were millions yes millions of grey-yellow mite not

having anything to eat.As we know they only turn red after

their meal. I torched them to put them out of pain.

I do not work for or sell the product, which can be found

on e-bay.Some overcharge so you need to look hard.
